With its clean lines, unobtrusive profile and exquisite attention to detail, the stunning seconds sub dial SSD pays homage to the 1960s, a simpler, some might say nobler, era that produced timeless, sophisticated design.
The architecture takes its inspiration from the best hand stopwatches of that period. Note the Gran Prix style bezel, common in racing watches of that time period. The lines are simple, with only a single bevel along the upper edge of the case. Deviating from the script, we’ve foregone the traditional black crystal gasket for a rich, eye-catching golden yellow, allowing the dial to take center stage. All of this is rounded out by a precision display featuring a sub-dial reminiscent of a Smiths gauge on the legendary Jaguar E-type.

I have no buyer’s regrets with my SSD. None at all. The build and finish are solid. I really like the sunken seconds register and the raised chapter ring, which give the dial some 3D aspects. The font of the numbers and the slender hands are growing on me, which, for some reason, look terrific in the dark with the lume. Already, this has become my grab-n-go watch.

Very good build quality for this price point. Efficient anti-reflective coating makes sapphire crystal ‘disappear’ and therefore watch is very readable. Dial is also nicely done with seconds sub-dial slightly embossed giving some 3D effect. Quite unique style nylon strap – really like it, but small complaint would be that strap buckle is not a PVD black, but silver colour like crown. In real life watch feels/wears a bit larger than indicated size, but still it’s comfortable. Highly recommend!

I’ve been wearing my SSD almost every day since I received it and I’ve grown very fond of it. I totally love that vintage vibe which is every bit as charming as a vintage Heuer but timeless and retro futuristic like an Ikepod.
The unboxing was a delight and the packaging just pure class with that round window offering the first glimpse of the watch that sets the heart pounding.The fit and finishing of the watch is superb, the straps well made and little details such as the chamfers that runs across the top of the flanks are just beautiful. And I’ve only noticed yesterday that all the numbers and hands are lumed and that was totally unexpected indeed. What a nice touch!

Nice watch. I own the SSD Three. At first i was a little surpised as the dial is not graphite but more a very dark tint brown. But that is much more beautiful than a graphite one in mine opinion. Unique and i really like it. Only thing, both straps that come with this version do not really match. The only let down, as especialy the racing styrap is a nice one.

I purchased the ssd2. Great watch, really well made, Japanese quartz so will inevitably keep time very effectively and incredibly accurately.
two main things bug me about the watch. There is absolutely no lume. I have a few watches by Lorus, an offshoot of Seiko, take into account these are under 40 pounds sterling. Not expensive by any means. their LumiBrite technology is incredibly, absolutely remarkable. The best in the business, without a doubt. I even have a few citizens, which are more expensive bit don’t have the lume that Lorus has. If you’re driving at night, Lume is very very critical. So its a huge let down to see the ssd2 has no lume whatsoever.
Another thing I’m a sucker for is a day date window. Sure I knew this watch doesn’t have it, but now i have a watch without it I realize how important it is for me. I am signing papers all the time, and on holiday am not keeping track of the day. I don’t want to look at my phone. I like analogue, good old dials and mechanics, not electronics, where possible.
Its a good watch, but without any lume and a day date window, for me I can’t give it 5 stars.
